The Philosophy of the Sanctuary

Cape Parrots are one of the most endangered parrot species in South Africa. We breed them with conservation values — carefully, selectively, and with the health of the species in mind. Each baby placed is an ambassador for a bird the world needs to know better.

  • /

Conservation Mindset: We breed Capes thoughtfully and track lineage carefully — responsible breeding supports the long-term health of the species in captivity.

  • /

Gentle Hand-Raising: Cape Parrots respond deeply to early human contact. We begin handling from hatch, building trust before any fears can form.

  • /

Right Home, Right Bird: Capes are not for high-turnover homes. We take time to match each bird with people who understand the commitment.

  • /

Lifetime Support: We are available to every Cape buyer for the life of the bird. This species is rare enough that we take ongoing ownership seriously.

  • /

DNA Sexing: DNA sexing is available on request for $30 per bird. If you want to know your Cape Parrot's sex before the bird comes home, we can arrange it without turning a simple option into a mystery.

“A Cape Parrot is not just a pet. It is a privilege.”

The Hand-Fed Bond

Cape Parrots are known for forming incredibly deep, loyal bonds with their people — often described as dog-like in their attachment. Hand-raising from hatch is what makes that bond possible.

Socialization

Our babies are introduced to household sounds, multiple voices, and gentle daily handling — arriving well-adjusted and ready to settle.

Patient Weaning

Cape Parrots wean slowly. We never rush the process — a confident, fully-weaned Cape is worth the wait.

Health Guarantee

Our health guarantee runs 3 to 5 days from pickup or delivery, with 5 days on weekends. It covers undisclosed pre-existing conditions diagnosed within that window by an avian-certified veterinarian, not a general-practice vet. Depending on the situation, the remedy is replacement or refund. It does not cover injuries after pickup or illness caused by exposure to other birds.

Common Questions

Where can I find Cape Parrots for sale near me?
Parrot Bliss breeds hand-raised Cape Parrots in West Palm Beach, Florida. We ship throughout the US via Delta Airlines Cargo. Call (561) 328-4944 to check current availability.
How much does a Cape Parrot cost?
Cape Parrots are a rare and specialized species. Prices typically range from $4,500–$6,000 depending on availability and lineage. Contact us for current pricing and waitlist information.
Are Cape Parrots loud?
Cape Parrots are notably quieter than most large parrots. They vocalize with contact calls and soft chatter, but they lack the constant screaming that characterizes Amazons or Macaws. This makes them unusually manageable for a large parrot.
Are Cape Parrots good for beginners?
Cape Parrots are gentle and forgiving, but their rarity, depth of bonding, and long lifespan make them best suited to experienced parrot owners who understand the commitment involved. We will always have a candid conversation with prospective buyers before placing a bird.
Do Cape Parrots talk?
Yes — Cape Parrots can develop a solid vocabulary and are known for speaking clearly. They are not the most prolific talkers in aviculture, but they are far from silent.
How long do Cape Parrots live?
Cape Parrots can live 40+ years in captivity with excellent care. Bringing one home is a lifetime commitment in the truest sense.
Do you ship Cape Parrots to other states?
Yes — we ship throughout the United States via Delta Airlines Cargo.
What is the 3-3-3 rule for parrots?
The 3-3-3 rule — 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn the routine, 3 months to feel at home — comes from rescue and rehoming, where birds arrive with unknown histories. A hand-fed Cape Parrot baby that has been handled daily since hatch usually settles far faster, because the trust is already built. Expect the first few days to still be quiet while your Cape learns your household.

Kaylin and her daughter are incredibly gifted with raising birds. It is hard to find someone you trust who hand feeds and socializes their birds since the day they hatch. My Parrotlets are a delight, and have taken to us immediately because of the care they received as babies.

My linnie arrived safely via shipment, and healthy at vet. She was very helpful in answering my many questions. I only wish I had gotten the green baby, but something happened. Would use her again and always watch her videos!!

I purchased a linnie from Kaylyn in 2026 and she was wonderful to work with! She was polite, informative and super responsive. I can tell she really cares about the welfare of the birds & isn't just "selling birds". Will for sure use her again if we end up getting another bird.

Just picked up our baby sun conure from Parrot Bliss. We have never had a baby before always older conure's that need a lot of time and patience but this little guy is showing us so much love and patience we cannot believe this would be so easy. He is the most loving little guy and even did his first visit to the Doc and they fell in love instantly. Definitely shows how much love and care was put into getting him started. We would definately recommend Kalyn if your thinking of getting a bird and honestly we are ready for another!
