The Cockatoo, Without the Chaos

Galahs are the most level-headed cockatoo I raise — affectionate and playful without the constant demand for attention that drives larger cockatoos into screaming. Hand-raised in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The Philosophy of the Sanctuary

Galahs deserve the same standard of care as every bird in the sanctuary. We raise each baby with intention — hand-feeding, socializing, and step-up training — and we start every Galah on a low-fat pelleted diet from day one, because diet is the single biggest health factor for this species.

  • /

Low-Fat Diet From Day One: Fatty liver disease and fatty tumors are the biggest health risk for Galahs on a seed-based diet. Every bird here is weaned onto a low-fat pelleted diet, and we ask owners to stay on it for life.

  • /

Daily Handling: Every baby is handled by multiple people from hatch — the foundation of the calm, people-focused temperament Galahs are known for.

  • /

Step-Up Training: Our Galahs leave fully comfortable stepping up and being handled by the whole family, not just one person.

The Hand-Fed Bond

Galahs are playful, comical birds that bond with the whole household rather than fixating on one person. Hand-raising from hatch builds that easy, whole-family temperament — and most pick up a few words and phrases along the way, even though talking isn't usually their main appeal.

Whole-Family Bonding

Handled by multiple people daily from hatch, our Galahs grow up comfortable with everyone in the house — not just one favorite person.

A Playful, Comical Temperament

Galahs are known for their goofy, theatrical personalities. Expect a bird that clowns around and keeps the household laughing.

Common Questions

Do you breed Galahs (Rose-breasted Cockatoos)?
Parrot Bliss hand-raises Galahs (Rose-breasted Cockatoos) in West Palm Beach, Florida. We ship throughout the US via Delta Airlines Cargo. Call (561) 328-4944.
How much does a Galah cost?
Pricing is confirmed directly with Parrot Bliss based on current availability — contact us for our current Galah pricing.
What are Galahs like as pets?
Galahs are one of the easiest cockatoos to live with — playful, comical, and far less prone to the obsessive single-person bonding and feather-destructive behavior that can develop in Moluccan or Umbrella Cockatoos. They still need daily out-of-cage time and a committed long-term home.
Are Galahs loud?
Galahs are moderately loud for a cockatoo — expect a five-to-fifteen-minute vocal session at dawn and dusk, with shorter contact calls through the day. They are notably quieter than a Moluccan, Umbrella, or Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo, but they are still a cockatoo, and apartment living is not recommended.
Do Galahs talk?
Galahs are fairly good talkers for a cockatoo, learning a number of words and phrases in a clear, cheerful voice — though talking is not usually their main appeal.
How long do Galahs live?
Galahs live 40 to 60 years with proper care. Diet is the single biggest health factor for this species — they are highly prone to fatty liver disease and fatty tumors on a standard seed-based diet, so we start every bird on a low-fat pelleted diet and recommend owners continue it for life.
Do you ship Galahs?
Yes — we ship throughout the United States via Delta Airlines Cargo.
What is the 3-3-3 rule for parrots?
The 3-3-3 rule — 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn the routine, 3 months to feel at home — comes from rescue and rehoming, where birds arrive with unknown histories. A hand-fed Galah baby that has been handled daily since hatch usually settles far faster, because the trust is already built. Expect the first few days to still be quiet while your Galah learns your household.

Kaylin and her daughter are incredibly gifted with raising birds. It is hard to find someone you trust who hand feeds and socializes their birds since the day they hatch. My Parrotlets are a delight, and have taken to us immediately because of the care they received as babies.

My linnie arrived safely via shipment, and healthy at vet. She was very helpful in answering my many questions. I only wish I had gotten the green baby, but something happened. Would use her again and always watch her videos!!

I purchased a linnie from Kaylyn in 2026 and she was wonderful to work with! She was polite, informative and super responsive. I can tell she really cares about the welfare of the birds & isn't just "selling birds". Will for sure use her again if we end up getting another bird.

Just picked up our baby sun conure from Parrot Bliss. We have never had a baby before always older conure's that need a lot of time and patience but this little guy is showing us so much love and patience we cannot believe this would be so easy. He is the most loving little guy and even did his first visit to the Doc and they fell in love instantly. Definitely shows how much love and care was put into getting him started. We would definately recommend Kalyn if your thinking of getting a bird and honestly we are ready for another!
