The conure group covers twelve species across two distinct genera: the smaller, generally quieter Pyrrhura conures (Green-cheeked, Crimson-bellied, Rose-fronted), and the larger, more operatic Aratinga and Thectocercus conures (Sun, Jenday, Blue-crowned, Patagonian, Golden).
Lifespans of 25 to 35 years are realistic. They are some of the most engaging and clownish parrots I keep.

Cuddly and Physical
Conures play hard, bond hard, and want to be on you. Wrestling toys on your shoulder, rolling on their backs, stealing pens off the desk.
Volume Varies
Sun and Jenday are properly loud; Pyrrhura conures (Green-cheeked, Crimson-bellied, Dusky) are apartment-friendly. Pick the right conure for your walls.
Multi-Decade
25 to 35 years is realistic with good husbandry. Not a short-term pet — pellet base diet plus daily engagement is the difference between thriving and a 12-year life.
